About the Research Unit:

The candidate will be assigned to the Crop Production and Crop Advisory Services Department. The Crop Production Division conducts field trials in nutrition, pests and diseases, and planting material responses to unique growing conditions in Sabah. The Crop Advisory Department offers agronomic services to clients, aiming to maximise yields by addressing reducing factors and improving oil palm cultivation productivity.

Your Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced R&D Manager to lead our Sabah Substation for oil palm research and development. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in agronomy and field experimentation and proven leadership skills to manage daily operations and ensure high-quality work. Candidates with oil palm agronomic experience are encouraged to apply, as their job scope shall be extended to include providing oil palm advisory services.

Requirements

• Possess an agriculture-based bachelor's or higher degree.
• Candidates with relevant experience and outstanding academic and leadership achievements in School, University or Community are encouraged to apply.
• Willing to travel extensively within Malaysia and Indonesia.
• Willing to be based in Sabah.

Responsibilities

• Propose, execute, manage and analyse field and laboratory agronomic experiments and translate findings to practical estate practices.
• Audit field trials, ensuring that they are being carried out at a high standard.
• Manage Sabah Substation on daily activities, ensure good quality of work is carried out, and liaise with host estates regarding the running of the substation and experiments carried out in the substation.
• Produce monthly reports on substation activities.
• Monitor commercial field sampling activities to ensure timely sample analysis and data entry.
• Implement and monitor OSH-related activities.
• Coordinate building repairs and upgrades.
• Applicable to candidates with experience as an oil palm agronomist: Provide agronomic advisory services to client estate, monitor their yield performance and suggest sound and practical advice for improvement.

Additional Skill and Notes:

• Proficient in spoken and written English and Bahasa Malaysia.
• Possess strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Remuneration:

We offer an attractive remuneration package of a gross monthly salary, fixed allowances, yearly bonuses, and excellent opportunities for long-term career development. Other perks include car/housing loan subsidies and child support. Full medical coverage is extended to the employee and their immediate family members. The remuneration scale advertised will vary based on experience and qualifications, with the salary range indicated as suitable for fresh graduates and those with less than three years of experience. Higher salaries are offered to candidates with more extensive experience.
